Why a GAON

I live in the United States, and the national ID number is the Social Security number. However, everyone seem to have a need for this number, and now it is more likely that a bad actor has your Social Security number when they shouldn’t. In Kaldus, there will be the Government Issuance Number (GIN) which requires DNA verification to receive the GIN. This number should only be given out to the national government (telephone number starts with 100). There is also the National ID Number (NIN) which is a public number, and it is actually safe to provide this number. So, you aren’t allowed to give out your GIN, and everyone knows your NIN, how do you acquire new services, and make new applications?

This is where the Government Authorized Order Number (GAON) comes in. Going to the government portal, and logging in with your GIN and password, you will provide the Business ID, and from there, you would get a GAON. This is the government’s way of saying, “Yes, this person is who they say they are”. The person will now go to the company they wish to apply for services with, and provide their GAON which is the substitute for the GIN. The thing is the GAON is only good with that company when in combination with a particular NIN, and good for 30 days of issuance for it to be valid. This means that if someone does get a hold of someone else’s GAON, the damage is none. It allows the citizen to be overly paranoid of their GIN, and they should be. No One but the person, and government should know the GIN. This even applies with significant others, guardian, and children. For minor accounts, the guardian will log in normally, and select the child they wish to get a GAON for. This will essentially say the service is for the child, but they are financially responsible for the service. One example might include phone services.

The reason why authentication of a GAON is required for new applications, and services is simple. Everyone will have your NIN. This is fine. But someone shouldn’t acquire your NIN, or use it to open an account online. This is why a GAON will also be required. In theory, only the person wishing to make an application should get the GAON, and since the GAON is tied to that person’s NIN, it is that extra layer of security while allowing the government to say “Yes, this person wishes services with you”.
