Social Welfare programs are provided to any family that lives below 150% poverty. This will include housing assistance, food assistance, assistance with communication services, and so on. The social welfare program will assure that those who need it the most gets it. For a single person, $1,300 will be considered as poverty. This means that if you are receiving GBI as your only source of income, then you would definitely qualify for these social welfare programs.
To apply for the program, one would need to log in to the HHS portal (https://portal.hhs.ka), and once logged in, they will be able to apply for such programs. If you need help with food, you would apply for the Essential Food Assistance Program which will give you a card that you would use to pay for food. If you are in distress with housing, you can apply for temporary assistance until you can move into one of HHS’s housing projects. All social welfare programs will be listed in this section.
