AHRP

The AHRP (Affordable Housing Rental Program) is designed to provide low income families with housing options they can afford. Assuming that the family is in housing distress now, they will be able to apply for Housing Assistance which will be until they enter the projects. HHS will work with a property owner to accept 2 payments. One will be from HHS, and the other is from the family. Again, this is temporary and online until they can move into an HHS project rental. In either case, the household will pay 35% of their adult income for rent. The property owner might not include the utilities, where the project rentals will include everything except for internet, telephone, and television.

When applying for assistance, the head of the household will designate what available neighborhoods the family will live in. The current housing options will be made available to the household once an appropriate unit becomes available. Obviously, the more bedrooms needed, the longer it will take. If the household does not take the option, they will not continue to providing assistance for temporary rental since they have been offered housing options.

Since this will be a new country, most properties probably do not meet minimum NSC standards. With that in mind, HHS will have to construct new buildings that would meet NSC requirements. The project apartments will be built in the counties that will be available, and will have fiber optic services for internet, telephone (non-cellular), and television. The AHRP will be a lifesaver for many families, and designed to keep people out of homelessness.
